JWB is pleased to announce that it has been awarded a grant from the Global Grant Programme of the Allen & Overy Foundation. The grant, given to a maximum of only four grantees per year, includes a monetary award of £25,000 per year for three years to support JWB’s projects in Asia.
This is exciting news for JWB and a strong recognition of our work across Singapore, Hong Kong, Indonesia, and the Philippines. The grant will provide additional resources to promote access to justice for victims of human trafficking and labour exploitation, even after returning home. The grant will allow JWB to increase its capacity in its target jurisdictions, including training pro bono lawyers and front-line caseworkers, developing strategic legal research, and identifying and supporting civil impact litigation.
The Allen & Overy Foundation makes grants to charitable organisations promoting access to justice and access to education and employment. It is funded by contributions from its worldwide partnership. Allen & Overy has a strong presence in Singapore and Hong Kong, countries that exhibit high rates of labour migration and in which JWB focuses its civil litigation efforts. JWB looks forward to a strong partnership with Allen & Overy over the three-year course of the Global Grant, and beyond.
