Call for volunteers: Donor Development Leaders Wanted!

June 9, 2016
Category: Recruitment

Are you a people person who is good at networking, writing and event planning? Justice Without Borders (JWB) is recruiting volunteers to help advance our regional funding development projects. This position will help to develop our relationship with funders in order to advance access to just compensation for migrant worker victims of human trafficking and labour exploitation.

Details of the position

The Development Volunteer will work closely with the Executive Director and the international Board of Directors to accomplish the following goals:

  • Develop proposals/concept notes for funders that describe potential partnership opportunities on our projects.
  • Identify potential funding partners that appear to be a good fit for JWB’s work.
  • Develop an investor engagement program that keeps our individual donors engaged in our work.

Benefits of working with JWB

  • Engage with the unique regional issues surrounding labour migration and human trafficking.
  • Work with a committed group of supportive individuals working on unique solutions to these issues.
  • A hands-on work environment that allows you to engage with the leadership from Day 1.
  • Make a difference in the lives of a vulnerable population by building support for access to just compensation.

About JWB

JWB is a not-for-profit firm that supports victims of labour exploitation and human trafficking in seeking just compensation against their abusers, even after returning home. We provide direct logistic and legal support to ongoing cases, as well as original strategic research for front-line practitioners. Operating at the regional level, we work with local support organisations along key migration routes to ensure victims can access legal aid, wherever they are.

Skills we are looking for

  • Strong English writing ability.
  • Previous grant writing or fundraising experience is a plus.
  • Ability to tell a story—what we want to do and how a funder’s support can make it possible.
  • Willingness to learn and flexibility when it comes to work.
  • Self-directed, ability to take on tasks proactively.
  • Team player, ability to work with others, including college students and professionals.

Work location and time commitment

Applicants based in Singapore or Hong Kong strongly preferred. We ask for a minimum of 7-10 hours per week. Additional commitments are welcome and will result in greater responsibility within JWB as desired.
