Justice Without Borders (JWB) is inviting applications for a full-time Graduate Legal Fellow position. This position supports JWB’s work in ensuring access to justice for Indonesian migrant workers who have returned home but need legal assistance in the countries where they previously worked.
This is an excellent opportunity for recent law graduates interested in getting hands-on experience at an international non-profit organisation that operates across the region.
The position includes a stipend and requires a 12-month commitment. While we currently work mostly from home, we’ll hold monthly onsite meetings regularly in Jakarta and may require inter-city travel for our programs.
Key Responsibilities
Claims Management and Casework Support
- Developing a case in light of JWB’s mission, engaging the work with interest and passion
- Overseeing case timelines and milestones effectively, including:
- Coordinating internal and external stakeholders accordingly; and
- Adapting to necessary changes while maintaining case progress.
- Communicating with clients, ensuring clients feel assured, safe, and trusted in their ability to handle cases
- Engaging and supporting front-line partners, ensuring they feel valued and involved
- Fostering a collaborative team environment and working effectively with colleagues
- Maintaining control of the case process, with a bird’s eye view of the entire process across offices, understanding how all of the pieces fit together
- Proactive in seeking help when needed.
Education, Community Building, and Raising Awareness
- Facilitating program execution in a way that includes preparation, implementation, and follow-up, ensuring smooth coordination and effective delivery
- Supporting the wider Indonesia team in building and maintaining relationships with external stakeholders, including grassroots organizations, government agencies, universities, and funders.
- Identifying and resolving potential challenges in a way that minimizes disruptions, enhances problem-solving, and ensures successful program outcomes.
Development of SOPs and Strategic Legal Research
- Integrating learnings from cases and feedback from clients in the products.
- Streamlining the products, ensuring a logical part of ongoing processes.
- Ensuring the outcomes are useful for the internal and, if applicable, external stakeholders.
What We’re Looking For
We are looking for fresh law graduates who are interested in our field of work, self-motivated, able to work in a team, and are not afraid to take on new challenges outside of their comfort zone.
Required:
- Have a law degree (fresh graduate preferred);
- Be able to commit full time;
- Reside in Jabodetabek area;
- Have strong organizational skills (prioritization, time project management), with the ability to work with multiple tasks and deadlines while engaging effectively with relevant stakeholders
- Proficiency in Bahasa Indonesia and English (written and spoken);
- A strong interest in social justice and working with marginalized communities;
- Ability to work in a multicultural team;
- Willing to take initiative and actively address issues that come up during work;
- Professionalism; and
- Willing to travel in and outside of Indonesia.

Terms of engagement:
- Full-time, reporting to the Indonesia Senior Legal Officer.
- 15 days paid annual leave, in addition to public holidays and office closure for the last week of December.
- Remuneration: IDR 5,250,000
- Hybrid working arrangement – primarily working from home, with at least 2 days in the office per month, along with external meetings as needed.
- Occasional inter-city and overseas travel may be required as part of our work.
