On February 25, we were pleased to host over 23 migrant domestic workers (MDW) and helpdesk caseworkers for the second coaching session of Access to Justice (A2J) Mentorship Programme in Singapore, which trains participants on the real life practices of casework for prospective MDW clients.

Our participants engaged in role-playing and situational exercises under the guidance of volunteer lawyers and student facilitators. Through this coaching session, our participants gained valuable insights from various exercises on practical strategies, including evidence collection and client interviewing. They also learned to navigate the challenges that may arise when pursuing a legal claim.

As participants now possess a stronger foundation in building robust legal cases, we eagerly anticipate the final module of the A2J Mentorship Programme, which will further illuminate their employment rights in Singapore.

We extend our heartfelt gratitude to our volunteer lawyers, April Z., Charlotte Tan, and Joanne Pacewicz from Clifford Chance; Manoj Purushothaman, Liseah Ang, Rachel Choo, Hannah Kong, Caleb Li, and Daniel Rainer from Reed Smith LLP for their invaluable expertise throughout the session. A huge thanks to our student volunteers for their assistance and to Clifford Chance for their hospitality.

We hope to see you again soon in our future trainings!
